TSW show understanding of the 8 parts of speech.

In whole group we will review the 8 parts of speech. In small group students will take a test on these parts. Rotation in the reading corner and instructional software will continue.

Homework: 15 minutes of reading aloud and retelling with parent.

TSW apply good reading strategies to a nonfiction text.

In whole and small group we will read and discuss the nonfiction book about the Titanic. Rotation in the reading corner and instructional software will continue. Students will take SRI test.

Students will work on persuasive rough draft and reading of novel when finished with test.

Homework: Persuasive rough draft is due tomorrow.


Wednesday, May 23

TSW use Microsoft Word to type a final copy of persuasive paper.

TSW create a presentation for novel.

We will go to the computer lab today to type persuasive rough draft. Students will then work in literature circles to complete presentations.

TSW present persuasive papers to the class.

TSW present novel assignment to the class.

Students will present persuasive papers to the class.

Literature circle groups will present novel assignment to the class.

TSW present novel assignment to the class.

Literature circle groups will present novel assignment to the class. We will also update writing folders and prepare for next year. Students will complete novel list and evaluation.

TSW apply rules for using prepositional phrases in sentences.

TSW participate in literature circles.

Class will begin with the read aloud On My Honor. Spelling list 6-1 p. 161 will be introduced. Students will take the pretest. The lessons on combining sentences with prepositional phrases p. 438 and punctuating introductory phases p. 440 will be introduced.

Students will work in literature circles to read and discuss novel.

Homework: Study spelling and practice p. 92. Read novel.

TSW participate in literature circles.

Class will begin with the read aloud On My Honor. Spelling test 6-1 p. 161 will be administered. Students will begin brainstorming ideas for the persuasive paper.
