Week of May 21st thru 25th
Monday, May 21st -- Determine why the United States placed an embargo on France and Great Britain. Explain what Tecumseh wanted to accomplish and his successes. Text pages 344 - 347.
Tuesday, May 22nd -- Analyze the debate and the events that led the United States to declare war on Great Britain. Text pages 347 - 349.
Wednesday, May 23rd -- Describe the early events of the War of 1812 with the war at sea, near the Canadian border, and on the American frontier. Explain the actions of the American Indians in relation to the British during the war. Text pages 350 - 353.
Thursday, May 24th -- Analyze the strategies of the British along the east coast of the United States. Explain how the War of 1812 came to an end along with the agreed terms. Text pages 353 - 355. Tomorrow (Friday) the students will have an assessment on Chapter 11. They are permitted to make a "help" sheet for the test which was explained to them in class.
Friday, May 25th -- Complete an assessment on Chapter 11.
Week of May 14th thru 18th
Monday, May 14th -- Introduce Chapter 11 - "The Expanding Nation" thru use of the time line on text pages 332 - 333. Also complete the "historian" questions on text page 333.
Tuesday, May 15th -- Analyze the views Thomas Jefferson expressed as President of the United States. Evaluate the importance of Marbury v. Madison as a court case along with the emergence of judicail review. Text pages 334 - 337.
Wednesday, May 16th -- Describe how and why the Louisiana Purchase took place. Explain the purpose of the Lewis and Clark expedition along with its achievements. Text pages 338 - 342.
Thursday, May 17th -- The students will begin watching a video that relates to the expedition of Lewis and Clark. Students will complete a writing example while watching.
Friday, May 18th -- Completion of the Lewis and Clark video.
******* Students are responsible for the vocabulary words that are included in each section of the chapter.
The students should look them up and write them down in a notebook. They will be checked and graded at the beginning
of class on the day of a chapter test.
