Monday 5/14/2012

Whole (20 minutes) and Small Group (10 minutes) – Whole Group- Students will review vocabulary words. Students will turn in all worksheet from Friday. Students will review the Scholastic Scope Article. Students will read Chapter 16 “The Singing”.
Small Group – Students will complete “literature circle questions” cards for the City of Ember within small group settings.
Computer Instruction (20 minutes) – The Topic Software engages students in individualized and adjusted instruction. Videos help students develop the background knowledge that he/she needs to form accurate mental models before reading leveled passages. Instructional activities in Reading, Word, Spelling, and Success Zones focus on developing abilities in decoding, fluency, and comprehension.
Independent Reading (20 minutes) - Student build fluency and reading comprehension skills through modeled and independent reading of the READ 180 Paperbacks. Each student has selected a paperback for independent reading. Students are responsible for quick-writes and graphic organizers that outline student’s novel. Each assignment is worth five points and due the day after students completes a novel.
Wrap Up (10 minutes) – Reading logs, Exit Slips, and Wrap.

Whole (20 minutes) and Small Group (10 minutes) – Whole Group – Students will complete the final Lexile Levels for the 2011/2012 school year.
Small Group – No small group due to Lexile Level testing.

Whole (20 minutes) and Small Group (10 minutes) – Whole Group – Students will complete the vocabulary assessment for Chapters 15-17. Students will be introduced to last section of vocabulary words Chapters 18-20.
